Prenatal care that takes place in a group?! Why would anyone want to do that?! Let me tell you why you should take part in Centering!
Centering Pregnancy is all of your prenatal visits from 12 weeks-36 weeks done in a group setting. Why a group setting? It enables moms and partners to gather together who are all due around the same time and enables them to help each other while navigating the difficult road of the unknowns associated with pregnancy.
The group runs for approximately 2 hours. Yes, I said TWO hours. Think about it, by the time you check in, sit in the lobby, get your vitals taken and wait for the provider you are here an hour or maybe more. Centering visits combine all of those tasks, plus 90 minutes to talk, ask questions, listen to guest speakers and enjoy a snack. Yes! I said snack. The office provides water and a small healthy snack at each visit.
Second/third/forth time moms often feel like this form of care is not for them. WRONG. Moms of multiple children still get just as much information because each pregnancy is different and let’s be honest, PREGNANCY BRAIN IS A REAL THING and we forget! Also, because the groups are too boring for children we request that you leave them with a sitter and now you have a mom’s day out!
So, what is the catch? There is no catch! It doesn’t cost more, you still get your ultrasounds and testing completed and each group visit you have one on one time to hear the heartbeat and ask individual questions. There is no additional cost, just additional care. Centering Pregnancy was established because the medical field saw that people who are in a group setting are more empowered in their care because they have time to ask questions and have discussions about difficult and not so difficult topics! The education provided has shown to lower preterm birth rates and increased breastfeeding rates because women feel they have a stronger support system and know what resources are available to them.
We start a NEW group each month. Give us a call today to get set up! You don’t want to miss out. Hey, doesn’t hurt to try and if you do not like it, that is ok! We can still see you just in a traditional one on one setting.
